Muhammad Amir Rana
Director
Muhammad Amir Rana is a security and political analyst and the director of Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS). He has worked extensively on issues related to counter-terrorism, counter-extremism, and internal and regional security and politics. He was a founder member of PIPS when it was launched in January 2006 and had previously worked as a journalist with various Urdu and English daily newspapers from 1996 until 2004. He has given lectures at several universities and security institutes in Pakistan and abroad. Amir has published widely in national and international journals, professional publications and magazines. He writes regularly for Dawn, Pakistan’s leading English newspaper. He is also the editor of Pakistan Annual Security Report, and PIPS research journal ‘Conflict and Peace Studies’.

Safdar Hussain
Joint Director, Research Analyst
Safdar Hussain, nom de plume Safdar Sial, has been working with the Pak Institute for Peace Studies as a research analyst since March 2007. He holds a master’s degree in political science. His work focuses on conflict, insecurity, and violence in Pakistan and Afghanistan; regional political, strategic and security issues; and media and governance. He has published extensively in national and international journals and is a co-author ofDynamics of Taliban Insurgency in FATA, and Radicalization in Pakistan and editor of Critical Ideologies: A Debate on Takfeer and Khurooj. He is also associate editor of PIPS research journal ‘Conflict and Peace Studies.’

Sajjad Azhar
Media & Event Coordinator
Sajjad Azhar has extensive experience in journalism, investigative reporting and media relations. Since 1994, he has worked for different national and international newspapers and periodicals and produced a number of reports, interviews and features. He is author of an Urdu-language book "Do Wattan" (Two Homelands), which describes the lives of Pakistani Diaspora in the United Kingdom. From 2007 to 2009, he remained associated with PIPS as a researcher and rejoined the Institute in May 2014 as Media and Event Coordinator.

Hassan Sardar Admin and Finance Manager
Hassan holds MBA in finance from Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad. He is one of the senior team members of the organization. He is also responsible for the organization of special PIPS academic and networking events.

Muhamamd Ismail Khan
Project Coordinator, Associate Editor
Muhamamd Ismail Khan works as Project Coordinator at PIPS, where he also edits the Conflict and Peace journal. He has also contributed articles to leading newspapers of Pakistan. His areas of interest include security and politics of Pakistan. He did Masters in International Relations from Boston University.

Hazrat Bilal
IT Manager
A graduate in computer sciences from Gomal University D.I Khan, Hazrat Bilal is currently studying ACCA. His main responsibilities at PIPS include managing content of websites and developing, maintaining, troubleshooting and designing websites and web based applications. He also conducts statistical analysis for different surveys and reports.

Muhammad Afzal prepares and manages PIPS archives and profiles besides assisting in the management of PIPS Database on Conflict and Security.
